VIAGS TAN SON NHAT'S PASSENGER SERVICE STAFF TIMELY DETECTED, PREVENTED 5 ILLEGAL EXITING PASSENGERS TO UK

On September 6, 2019, staff Thai Ngoc Thanh Hien - International Passenger Services Team, Vietnam Airlines Passenger Services Center detected and promptly prevented 5 exiting passengers on the VN51 flight from Ho Chi Minh City to London with an unclear purpose. This helped Vietnam Airlines avoid losses of between 10,000 and 25,000 pounds (equivalent to 285,866,403 to 714,666,008 VND) if these 5 passengers are returned to Vietnam. Regulations of the authorities will fine the transport brand from 2,000 to 5,000 pounds/passenger depending on the case.

The case’s details are as follows:

- Group of 5 passengers came to the check-in counter including 1 passenger with a Titan card sending 1 pack of baggage, 1 passenger with a Gold card sending 2 packs of baggage and the remaining 3 passengers without checked baggage.

-Ms.Hien - check-in staff - has questioned the purpose going to LHR of the group of 3 passengers without checked baggage, so she reported the officer on duty and online TOC expert.

- TOC reported the Reconnaissance Team – Police Office of Tan Son Nhat Border Gate - the case of these 5 passengers and decided to refuse to carry passengers for Reconnaissance Team to clarify the matter.

- After the investigation, the passengers has declared that they paid 885 million VND/person to handle the travel dossier to UK and more than 600 million VND to traveled to Japan and South Korea for better profiles before applying for a visa to go to United Kingdom.

- The 2 passengers with baggage are the guide for 3 passengers without baggage.

This situation is very special when Ms.Hien has high vigilance and discovered suspicious signs of the group who will try to stay in the UK or will continue to travel to another country while the passengers’ TRUE visa is for the UK. With limited time for procedures, the staff are often focus only on determining whether the real or fake travel documents ... it is very difficult to detect if not observant.

Immediately after having the information, Director of VIAGS TSN promptly glorified and praised the staff - Thai Ngoc Thanh Hien, required Passenger Services units to share the commentary of this situation to all Passenger Services staff to learn and take experience. Directing and coordinating TOC to report VNA to propose the Leaders for timely reward to staff with particularly outstanding achievement.
