VIAGS TAN SON NHAT PROACTIVELY AND POSITIVELY PREVENT, FIGHT AGAINST ACUTE RESPIRATORY INFECTIONS CAUSED BY CORONA VIRUS

Facing the complicated situation of acute respiratory infections disease caused by Corona virus in China which is spreading globally, in 2 days 30th and 31st Jan., 2020, at VIAGS Tan Son Nhat, Director Bui Duc Thanh chaired the meetings about the prevention and control of this disease. Attending was the Board of Directors, the heads of the Departments/Centers.

At the meeting, Director Bui Duc Thanh summarized information related to the disease, the instructions of the leaders of VNA, VIAGS and recommendations of the Ministry of Health. The Director asked all employees not to be subjective, to protect themselves, to protect their relatives, to treat the prevention and control of epidemic as "fighting against the enemy". Unit leaders at all levels must regularly update information to grasp the situation, prepare necessary resources to prevent and control nCoV disease.

In the recent time, VIAGS Tan Son Nhat has proactively and positively implemented synchronous solutions to prevent epidemics.

Since the afternoon of 30th lunar calendar, as January 24 2020, VIAGS Tan Son Nhat has fully provided medical mask to the staff of units. Before the outbreak of the disease, proactively contact the partners to timely supply the Cabin Clean Services Center with 42,900 medical masks to allocate on VNA aircrafts so that promptly supply to passengers in need (50 items/wide-body aircraft, 20 items/narrow-body aircraft). In average, has allocated 3,150 - 3,300 items/day.

In addition, the Cabin Clean Services Center receives from the TOC the declaration form of "Health Conditions" (Vietnamese-English, Vietnamese-Chinese and English-Chinese) every day to allocate for flights from China to Vietnam (excluding Hong Kong and Taiwan). The Cabin Clean Services Center has prepared a sufficient number of votes to issue 110% according to the number of seats from flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Shanghai, Guangzhou and Haikou.

Along with that, the work of protecting the health of frontline personnel and aircraft sanitation has also been thoroughly implemented. VIAGS Tan Son Nhat has deployed up to 100% of Passenger Services Staff and staff who work outside the aircraft wearing masks during the working process; purchased and distributed 21,750 medical masks, 11,500 pairs of disposable gloves and 310 bottles of hand sanitizer for direct service staff from since January 23, 2020. VIAGS Tan Son Nhat is continuously working with partners to replenishing reserves.

 

Regarding communication about disease prevention to employees, VIAGS Tan Son Nhat has organized the communication to employees, briefing at the beginning of work shift about the situation for all employees to actively prevent it. At the same time, deploying notices and preventive measures from the Company's health department, recommendations of the Ministry of Health and constantly updating the communication to all employees. In the course of working, if detecting any signs of suspicion on passengers, must immediately report to the duty officer to coordinate the specialized agencies in implementing medical measures promptly.

Currently, VIAGS Tan Son Nhat continues to monitor and perform the coordination with airlines, units and agencies in Tan Son Nhat International Airport to prevent epidemics and protect health for employees.

Morning of September 24th, 2021, VIAGS Tan Son Nhat has successfully served Charter flight (by HAV Company represented) number 02VQBZV. Utilizing a B747-400 airplane whose seats were removed for cargo, the flight carried a total of 24,868 kg of goods which consist of 18 freights/2,860 packages/15,550 kg in the cabin and 10 freights/9,318 kg in the cargo hold. Exported apparel and footwear were contained and dispatched from Vietnam to South Korea in these freights.

At 3:55 A.M, on September 11th, VIAGS Tan Son Nhat (VTSN) delivered services for a special flight utilizing the military-grade freighter, C-130 Hercules, to obtain 8 tons of medical equipment and materials for fighting against the Covid-19 pandemic. This was the result of the aid from the Poland government to Ho Chi Minh City and it was worth about 4 million USD. The package which consisted of 70 breathing machines, 50 heart-rate monitors, 267 positive displacement pump Biolight, protective clothes, gloves, medical masks, and so more, was transported from India to Vietnam.

Throughout the ‘war’ against emerging COVID – 19 virus variants that are highly contagious, not only the medical force, the police force, and the army but all Vietnamese people have had to experience the expense of this catastrophic impact. Thousands of companies are struggling to survive and millions of workers have lost their jobs or work with greatly reduced income.

Ho Chi Minh’s Tan Son Nhat Airport used to be the busy and bustling hotspot of the country with hundreds of domestic and international flights every day. Yet, ongoing challenges and immense difficulties brought on by the pandemic has affected many. Not only are authorities, airlines and service providers struggling to grapple with the crisis, but the everyday lives of workers and staff here is becoming more difficult than ever.

During this time, the VIAGS’ Tan Son Nhat board of management, the Labor Union, and the Youth Union had quickly taken the initiative to create the “Love Connection Fund” to hasten welfare support for staff in need. From identifying airport staff going through a hard time to buying and transporting food and essential items in the fastest and most convenient way possible. This journey of ‘Knocking on every door – Looking after/Finding those in need’ is a part of the collective support campaigns for VIAGS Tan Son Nhat’s workers during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Small gift bags consisting of daily necessities such as rice, eggs, canned food, vegetables, and noodles will be delivered to more than 453 employees in need and those that are in isolated or quarantine areas with the hope of supporting and encouraging these families to overcome the difficulties and fully comply with the Government's directives.
